Today I have been thinking about what I want my life to be now that I have an opportunity to change my path.   I have a card on my dresser “She lived the life she dreamed.”  So what are my dreams?  In 2007, I attended a Creativity Workshop in Florence, Italy and after ten wonderful days I created a memory album called the City of Vision.  In the album I have copies of my creative writings, beautiful drawings, photos of Florence and its many shops, and all the wonderful people I met.   In viewing my “City of Vision” album I have the “Legend of My Hand” which each participant drew for himself or herself.  Drawn on my hand I included in bright primary colors the following words – Metaphors, Endless possibilities, Creation, Artist, Culture, No limits, Beauty, Books, Blue Sky, Crystal, Angels, Ideas, Love Ornaments, Christmas Trees, Santa, Colors, Quilting, Family, God, Kindness, Travel, Friends, Poems, Leadership, and Symbols.  But what was interesting, I typed a list of the words for my album when I returned that I included on “my hand” but I left out Leadership and Symbols.   It has been the dilemma of my life – am I an artist and/or leader processing symbols in the unus mundus?  

During the workshop I wrote a poem, Eyes See, based on an interaction with a street artist who drew a picture of me. I left the poem behind on the vision board created by our class to fade into our memories and the “unus mundus.”

Evil and the Ultimate Hero

In my Philosophy of God class we debated why does God permit evil?  Is evil its own unseen supernatural force fighting the force of God or love?   One classmate argued that without evil, we wouldn’t know what good/love is.   My answer is that in our soul we have a natural understanding of what is love and what is evil.  We do not have to create evil to know love  and evil only occurs through our actions.  I believe at the root of evil is fear – our own fears or perverse enjoyment of creating fear.  We forget that evil is “no thing” and has no power but what we give it. 

It is amazing the number of movies created depicting some huge interstellar battle or worldwide catastrophe that a superhuman power or hero has to overcome.  Have we forgotten we have the freedom of choice?   Could we focus our efforts on creating a world we can all live in instead of expending so much action and energy on creating battles and symbols of fear from which a superhuman hero must deliver us?  Have we forgotten we already have a hero to follow?

In the Star Wars movie Return of the Jedi, Luke Skywalker, overcomes evil using the love of a son and rescues his father Darth Vader from Vader's own created hell.  It is interesting how this movie mirrors Jesus.  Jesus fights with love and forgiveness, the greatest sword and shield, and who is our ultimate hero.

Synchroncity and God's Grace

Synchronicity is the experience of two or more events as meaningfully related, where they are unlikely to be causally related.   The subject sees it as a meaningful coincidence.” (Wikipedia).   Wolfgang Pauli, a physicist wrote of “unus mundus” - that these seemingly random events that we see as related, are of a deeper order.   Synchronicity is our mind’s attempt to see patterns that are related.  What if someone or something is creating the symbols or events in a pattern?  I know my garden symbols are repeated in my life because I have given them meaning and I see others using the garden as a symbol.   The purpose of symbols and metaphors are a rich layered expression of meaning.   If I give it meaning and share the meaning with others, then there is a pattern.   And what if God is also at work through the Holy Spirit and others in expressing the “unus mundus.”   What if there is a deeper order that exists within our collective and individual unconsciousness as well as existing in a consciousness that manifests itself as a force in and of itself?   Are we solely like individual billiard balls that physically interplay as they hit each other or are our minds also a network of energy.  Einstein did say E=MC squared.   Is everything and everybody one continuous energy field while also remaining as an individual mass?  Another way of describing “unus mundus” is that it is God’s grace or energy at work.   Energy propelled by our own physical actions and thoughts as well as an unseen force.   

Paradigm Shifts and Communication

I have been thinking about paradigm shifts and how they affect our worldview.  Paradigm shifts occur when a fundamental idea or behavior is replaced and the resulting impact changes social interactions and structures.  Examples of paradigm shifts include the transition of hunting societies to agricultural societies, the industrial revolution, the transition from Newtonian physics to quantum mechanics, and most recently the creation of computers and the Internet.   These paradigm shifts affect how we interrelate changing our society.

So what does this have to do with our souls?   I believe that the Internet and related devices are not the only frontier of communication; I also believe that within us there is also a means of communication that is wireless.  I do not mean that we have microchips in our brain that will communicate with the Internet and each other (although that is certainly possible in the future).  We have a natural conduit with each other and God through our souls and the Holy Spirit, but we have forgotten how to use them.    Would it not be better if we used a higher consciousness (God) to help determine our paths than solely relying on our humanity?
