“In him we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” Ephesians 1:7
Today’s
sermon in Going Deeper at Christ Church, my pastor reminded me that only
through Christ’s death and blood on the cross are we reconciled to God and
receive his grace and the presence of his Holy Spirit.
This
week has been very emotional for me. I
am building a home in a neighborhood for a family I do not yet have. I know God has called me to build this house
in this very special neighborhood in which I feel the presence of God’s grace. But grace is not only open to me or this
neighborhood, it is present for all of God’s children. I have received abundantly God’s love and
grace even after my most sinful behavior hurt others. This week I was reminded of my own
selfishness in black and white as someone called out for help while letting go
of her heart symbolized in a simple act of sharing. This was a reflection of love, light, and
grace in her and God's answer to my prayer.
