“Great Spirits meet violent opposition from
mediocre minds.”
- Albert
Einstein – Nobel Prize Physicist
During
the last twenty-three years in my life journey I have experienced overwhelming
visions and dreams. My greatest fear was that I would lose control and
separate from the sensory-based reality that most people share. In the last
five years I have forced myself into being controlled and
analytical. As a consequence my ability to dream and see
possibilities disappeared. I did not know how to escape the box in which
my mind and soul was trapped. One day a friend called and asked me to
plan a garden. I then began to think outside of my box and consider
new paths. Then my position at work was eliminated and once released from
the analytical and controlled world, I started to dream again. I began to
remember the visions and dreams, which had erupted from my unconscious in what Carl
Jung would call an archetype explosion. I had denied and repressed by
inner being, my soul, for so long. But God in his infinite wisdom
has taken me step by step to release me and now I see possibilities for my
dreams based on the connections I have made. Carl Jung writes that the
Naskapi tribe operates almost in the total intuitive world and as a consequence,
grows closer to God and receives better dreams. He also discusses
the need to give up the utilitarian attitude of conscious planning in order to
make way for the inner growth. As I think about these comments from
a psychological perspective, I realize the surrendering to the will of God is
how we can release our souls and dream. But this runs counter to our
belief that we can control the world. Albert Einstein once said,
“Great Spirits meet violent opposition from mediocre minds.”
