“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has
made all the difference.”
- Robert Frost –
American Poet
This
morning I took a quiet walk through the trail near my home. For the past
seven years I have stayed on the paved path where I believed it was safe.
But this morning, I saw an older couple with a baby buggy turn onto the unpaved
path that winds through the woods. I decided to follow. It has been
a cold, snowy winter and the leaves have not yet sprouted from the branches,
but the stark frame of the trees showed me their beauty. It reminded me
of my favorite childhood poem by Robert Frost - The Road not Taken.
I remember he took the path “less traveled by, and that has made all the
difference.” God has provided me many blessings, but I am in a fork
in my life where the unpaved and paved paths meet. The beauty of
the unpaved path calls to my heart and I can no longer deny it. This is
the beginning of my journey. I trust in God that the unpaved path is my
destiny.
May God give all of us the grace and courage to take the road less traveled; the unpaved path - knowing deep in our hearts that Jesus knows the way very well and will travel it with us.
