The Prayer of Children

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; the people He choose for His inheritance.” Ps. 33:12

Today as I was driving I turned to the radio station 99.1 Joy FM, a Christian station, in St. Louis.  Children all across the region were calling in to the station from the flag pole at their local school.  The number of children gathered around the flag pole at each school varied between one and thirty or more.  They were gathered in prayer.

In this time of the nation when we are in the midst of divisive politics, coming together in prayer, releases the Holy Spirit in us to make the best decisions for our nation, decisions for our common good.  My parents knew the difficulties of the Depression and world war and made sacrifices so I could have a better life.  This nation will not move forward until we work to bring forward the least of us and give them equal opportunities.  Like us, none of our leaders are without sin and faults, but many endure the harshness and viciousness of the media scrutiny, so that they may better the nation for all of us.

We need to listen with open hearts and minds.  We need to listen, educate ourselves, and most of all realize that unless we surrender to God as a people, our nation will not be blessed.  The Bible is the Word of God, written by man, inspired by God.  Unless we truly are open to the Holy Spirit and revelation, we will be stuck in arguing about whether people created by God as they are, are worthy of love, acceptance and equality.  I know that only through God at work in my life, have I overcome my sins which are many.  He has granted me grace beyond what I could ever deserve and accepted me for who I am.  This is the least I can do for my fellow citizens and leaders as I bow my head in prayer.with the children in St. Louis.
